Poynter Institute’s Politifact now censoring social media to “save” you from “false” posts

When you read messages on Facebook, watch videos on Google’s YouTube, or peruse Instagram, messages similar to the screenshots above may appear, thanks to tech companies outsourcing censorship of our media.

Sometimes people share fake news without knowing it. When independent fact-checkers dispute this content, you may be able to visit their websites to find out why, it reads. “Only fact-checkers signed up to Poynter’s non-partisan code of principles are shown.” – Poynter Institute

Poynter is the big gun in the Big Brother business, owning or controlling sources like Politifact, through its so-called International Fact-Checking Network (IFCN).

It is an audacious institute, which had the arrogance in May, last year, to propose that advertisers boycott some 513 media websites it deemed unworthy of your access.

That effort fell through after critics called Poynter’s choice of de-funding the Drudge Report, Breitbart News, Media Research Center, Pajamas Media, Washington Examiner, The Daily Wire, The Blaze, Red State, Project Veritas, Newsmax, Zero Hedge, LifeSite, Judicial Watch, Frontpage, The Washington Free Beacon, The Daily Caller, Daily Kos and other opinion outlets, was unfounded and posed a dangerous precedent.

While Poynter rescinded its blacklist within two days, the sites mentioned were already smeared by the Poynter accusations. The institute’s reasoning  in the first place seemed presumptuous:

Advertisers don’t want to support publishers that might tar their brand with hate speech, falsehoods or some kinds of political messaging — but too often, they have little choice in the matter, Poynter explained.

Most ad-tech dashboards make it hard for businesses to prevent their ads from appearing on (and funding) disreputable sites. Marketers can create blacklists, but many of those lists have been out-of-date or incomplete.

Aside from journalists, researchers and news consumers, we hope that the UnNews index will be useful for advertisers that want to stop funding misinformation.

To demonstrate the ineptness of Poynter, take the example of it listing callthecops.net,  which boasts some 20 million daily views.Visiting that website, you are greeted with stories like the following:

Imagine that an institute would want to put that website out of business, because of supposed “hate speech, falsehoods or some kinds of political messaging.”

Poynter’s world seems upside down and foolish. Satire is hate. Jokes are not funny and must be destroyed if so determined by the almighty fact checkers.

Poynter is controlled by leaders of the establishment. It’s not left, not right. It serves a worldview that doesn’t appreciate any ideas that counter the status quo of elites controlling government, and now determining what you read, watch and hear.

George Soros & Charles Koch – pals?

Poynter funders include both the Charles Koch Foundation and the George Soros Open Source Foundation – total political opposites in their public guise, but apparently united partners when it comes to keeping you in the dark.

For example, Soros purports to want Medicare for all, and Koch wants to abolish it. Koch wants no minimum wage and Soros wants to raise it.

The funding for most liberal causes originates with Soros, and the conservative movement is dominated by Koch.

Currently, the most censored subject on social media is coronavirus and the use of Hydroxychloroquine (HCL), as demonstrated in this link to the esteemed Henry Ford Health Institute – click here. When you attempt to view the video, the YouTube link is turned off and deemed “private.” That’s censoring the news.
